What is Diigo?

  • Diigo is a social bookmarking site that allows users to highlight and annotate information important to them.

What do I need to know about Diigo before using it with my students?

  • Educator accounts are available. Register first, then request an educator account. It does take a bit of time to get a response so make sure you apply well before the time you will need it.
  • For students under 13, must be under an educator account. No email address necessary. Default is to no profile for students under 13.
  • Older students may create their own Diigo accounts and create and join specific educational groups.
  • Students must be well versed in Digital Citizenship and the school's Responsible Use Policy before using Diigo.

How can I use Diigo as an assessment tool?

  • Diigo is a research tool and can be utilized by instructors to evaluate students' research and note taking skills.
    • Teachers can observe the research in progress and make comments and notes to the student during the process.
